Yummy, there is love in my tummy!

Writer: Team ToolboxTeam Toolbox

When NLC released our funds for our very first workshops as NPO, we approached many local chains and restaurants in the Observatory area to assist us with the catering. Seeing that we only had R3000 to feed 20 students over 10 days, most restaurants could only supply us with basic sandwiches for lunch, but no coffee or tea. That being said, the willingness and support we received from the Observatory community have been wonderful. Instead, we decided to contact a very good friend of one of our directors. Tarek Davids (aka Mr T) is a film set caterer who has serviced the film and commercial industry for many years and runs a very successful catering company called CEDAR CATERING. Being the kind and giving man that he is, he offered to do the catering for us without thinking twice! Tarek immediately jumped to the challenge as he saw this as an opportunity to give back to the community. We were blown away by Tarek and his team!

The tea and coffee station even had rusks and biscuits for the participants to get their day started. But the lunches! Wow! We were really spoilt with healthy lunches every day. CEDAR provided us with fresh salads, vegetables, and delicious dishes. The participants really enjoyed the wholesome meals and it gave them sufficient nutrition to make it through the long days. Seeing that there was always more than enough provided for them, they could take some food home for their families as well.

We can not thank you enough, Tarek.
